One Rhythm, Many Voices

Your imagination is a contribution.

Over the past few days, I’ve been exploring the creative possibilities of powerful AI music tools, shaping a collection that moves from smooth, jazzy and bluesy reggae to heavyweight dub. Through prompts, experimentation and refinement, I’m exploring the character of each piece: the interplay of instruments, the weight of the rhythm, and the atmosphere the music creates.

This page brings those experiments together as a listening journey. I’m shaping the collection one piece at a time, giving each track its own title, artwork and story. Together, they extend my visual art practice into sound, exploring how music and images can speak to each other.

I’ll also share how the work develops: the ideas behind it, the choices I make, and how different versions emerge through working with AI.

This collection is a starting point for the wider One Rhythm, Many Voices community music and art project. I’d like to explore what happens when other people bring their instruments, words, images and stories into the conversation.

Listen, explore, and if something here sparks an idea, I’d welcome hearing how you’d like to contribute.

TRACK 01 · SIGNATURE RHYTHM

Foundation Rhythm

The signature track of One Rhythm, Many Voices

I wanted to open this collection with a smooth, jazzy reggae rhythm, carrying a bluesy, soulful feel and a warm, meditative quality—a space to settle into the music and let the journey begin.

As the signature track, it introduces the idea behind One Rhythm, Many Voices: a shared foundation rhythm that creates room for different voices, creative expressions and stories.

It also offers a starting point for collaboration. I imagine live musicians adding their own musical touches—an instrumental phrase, a melody, or an improvisation that takes it somewhere unexpected. Individuals and community groups could bring words, voices, stories and creative ideas, helping shape new versions together.

This collection follows my own creative journey with the foundation rhythm, exploring different instruments, moods and possibilities along the way.

What would your journey be with this rhythm?

TRACK 02 · SAX AND BASS

A New Voice

A smooth jazz saxophone joins the foundation rhythm

With this version, I wanted to explore how a smooth jazz saxophone could bring another voice to the foundation rhythm. The bass holds the grounding, while the saxophone adds a new melodic direction, developing the warm, soulful atmosphere. It’s another step in my creative journey with the rhythm—and an example of how introducing one instrument can open up fresh possibilities.

TRACK 03 · BASS, SAXOPHONE, KORA & DJEMBE

Bass & Space — The Journey Continues

This third track takes my music journey another step forward. Bass remains the foundation, with saxophone bringing a warm jazz voice. Now, the addition of kora and djembe opens up another conversation: plucked strings, breath, bass and hand-played rhythm.

I’m exploring how these instruments can share a groove while keeping their individual character—when to come forward, when to answer, and when to leave room for another voice.

Each addition brings new possibilities, shaping the relationship between melody, rhythm and space. The journey continues as I develop the sound, follow my curiosity, and hear where the next idea leads.
